How to Fix a Roamify eSIM Not Working on Android #

If your Roamify eSIM is installed but not connecting to the local network, follow these steps. Work through them in order — most connection issues are resolved by step two or three.

Important: Do not delete your eSIM during troubleshooting. Once deleted, an eSIM becomes invalid and cannot be reinstalled.

Common reasons your Roamify eSIM isn’t working on Android #

Before diving into the steps, here are the most frequent causes of connection issues on Android:

    • Data roaming is turned off — Android disables roaming by default on many devices
    • Wrong SIM selected for data — your phone may be routing data through your regular SIM instead of Roamify
    • Automatic network selection is on — your device may be connecting to an incompatible local network
    • APN settings are incorrect or missing — some Android devices don’t auto-configure the APN
    • Other SIMs are interfering — active SIMs competing for the data connection

Step 1: Turn data roaming ON #

    1. Go to Settings > Network and Internet.
    2. Select SIMs, then select Roamify eSIM.
    3. Toggle Roaming to ON.

This is the most common fix. Android devices ship with roaming disabled, and without it your eSIM cannot connect to a local network abroad.

Step 2: Manually select the network #

    1. Go to Settings > Network and Internet.
    2. Select Internet, then select Roamify eSIM.
    3. Turn off Automatically Select Network.
    4. Wait for the network scan to complete, then manually select the correct local network. The supported network for your destination is listed on the Roamify product page for your plan.

Automatic network selection sometimes picks an incompatible carrier. Selecting the network manually forces your device onto a supported one.

Step 3: Turn off all other active SIMs and eSIMs #

    1. Go to Settings > Network and Internet.
    2. Select SIMs.
    3. Disable all SIMs and eSIMs except your Roamify eSIM.
    4. Confirm that Roamify is set as the preferred data SIM.

Having multiple active SIMs can cause your device to route data through the wrong line, especially if your home SIM is still active.

Step 4: Check your APN settings #

If the above steps haven’t resolved the issue, your APN (Access Point Name) may need to be set manually.

    1. Go to Settings > Network and Internet > SIMs > Roamify eSIM.
    2. Tap Access Point Names.
    3. Check whether an APN entry exists. If not, tap the + icon to add one.
    4. Enter the APN value listed in the Technical Specs section for your destination on the Roamify website, or in your order confirmation email.
    5. Save the entry and select it as the active APN.

For full APN setup instructions, see APN configuration for Roamify eSIMs.

Step 5: Toggle airplane mode and restart #

    1. Enable Airplane Mode for 30 seconds, then turn it off.
    2. If the issue persists, press and hold the power button and select Restart.

This forces your device to re-register on the local network and clears any temporary connection state.

    Still not working? #

If none of the above steps resolve your issue, contact Roamify support via live chat on the website or through the in-app chat on the iOS or Android app. Please have your order number and device model ready.

    Frequently asked questions #

Why does my Android show a signal but no internet?
This usually means data roaming is off, or the wrong SIM is set as the data line. Start with Step 1 (enable roaming) and Step 3 (disable other SIMs).

Can I delete and reinstall my Roamify eSIM to fix it?
No — do not delete your eSIM. Once an eSIM is deleted from your device, it becomes permanently invalid. Contact Roamify support if you need account-level assistance.

My APN field is greyed out — what do I do?
Some Android devices lock the APN field when a carrier profile is active. Try restarting your device, or contact Roamify support for guidance specific to your device model.

Does this guide apply to Samsung devices?
Samsung devices have a slightly different Settings menu. See the dedicated Samsung troubleshooting guide for step-by-step instructions.
