Prices checked October 4, 2026.
Choosing a travel eSIM comes down to a few things: price, coverage, and how little stands between you and a working data connection the moment you land. This comparison puts Roamify and Saily side by side so you can see exactly what each offers before committing to one for your next trip.
Both deliver plans digitally, both have mobile apps, and neither requires a physical SIM card. But they differ in meaningful ways: pricing by destination, how calls and texts work, refund rules, and extras. Here's what you need to know. One difference we put front and center is the app. The Roamify app for iOS and Android is highly rated and built around a clean, guided install. As of October 4, 2026, it showed 4.7 stars from 93 ratings on the App Store and 4.3 stars from 869 reviews on Google Play. (Roamify is our product. We link to Saily's own pages so you can check every Saily figure yourself.)
If you're still deciding between several providers, not just these two, see our Best Saily alternatives comparison.
What Is Roamify? #
Roamify is a travel eSIM provider with plans in 200+ destinations, served through 358+ network operators. Plans start from $2, and the average cost across Roamify plans is $1.75 per GB. You search by destination, pick a plan that fits your trip length and data needs, pay once, and receive the eSIM digitally. You can buy on the website or in the Roamify iOS and Android apps. We designed the app so buying, installing and topping up all happen in one place, in a few taps.
Roamify isn't data-only. It offers call and SMS plans in almost all countries. Good examples are the Europe plans (from $15.00 for 30 days with 15 GB, unlimited minutes and 200 SMS) and the North America plans for the United States, Canada and Mexico (unlimited data with unlimited minutes and SMS from $32.00 for 15 days), as checked 2026-10-04. One exception: Roamify's Japan plans are data only. You can also top up an active eSIM instead of buying a new one.
Plans come in three structures: single-country, regional bundles, and global multi-country options. Whether you're heading to one place or moving across several countries on the same trip, there's likely a plan that fits.
What Is Saily? #
Saily is a travel eSIM provider owned by Nord Security, the company behind NordVPN. It says it offers data plans in 200+ destinations, managed through the Saily app (Saily Europe page, as checked 2026-10-04). On October 4, 2026, Saily listed most popular countries "from US$3.99", a few European countries (such as Austria, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic) from US$1.99, and Japan at US$3.99 for 1 GB over 7 days (Saily Japan, as checked 2026-10-04).
Saily's data plans don't include a phone number, but Saily now sells a US phone number as a monthly subscription (US$1.99/month, identity verification required) that pairs with a call and text plan (saily.com, as checked 2026-10-04). It also includes security features such as an ad blocker, web protection and virtual locations.
Roamify vs Saily: Head-to-Head Comparison #
Pricing #
Starting prices only tell part of the story. Roamify plans start from $2. Saily's starting price depends on the destination: from US$1.99 in a few European countries, but from US$3.99 or US$4.49 in most popular ones.
A fairer test is the same plan size in the same place. Here are two examples, as checked on October 4, 2026:
| Plan | Roamify | Saily |
|---|---|---|
| Japan, 1 GB | Not sold as a Japan-only plan | US$3.99 (7 days) |
| Japan, 10 GB | $8.00, but 4 days only (no 30-day 10 GB plan) | US$17.99 (30 days) |
| Japan, 20 GB | $20.00, 21 days (no 30-day 20 GB plan) | US$24.99 (30 days) |
| Japan, unlimited 15 days | $34.50 (full 5G speed, no slowdown) | US$48.99 (5 GB/day at full speed, then up to 1 Mbps) |
| Europe regional, 1 GB | $2.59 (7 days) | US$4.99 (7 days) |
| Europe regional, 3 GB | $4.98 (30 days), or $4.47 (15 days) | US$12.49 (30 days) |
| Europe regional, 10 GB | $10.00 (30 days), or $9.50 (15 days) | US$35.99 (30 days) |
| Europe regional, unlimited 15 days | $40.00 | US$49.99 |
Sources: Roamify prices are from Roamify's own Japan and Europe pages on getroamify.com, before any promo code (Roamify is our product). Saily prices are from Saily Japan and Saily Europe. All as checked 2026-10-04. Roamify's Europe plan covers 46 countries and Saily's covers 35. Roamify's Japan catalog is mostly unlimited-by-day plans plus a few larger fixed-data plans, so for a small Japan plan Saily is the one with options. Saily's unlimited plans give 5 GB per day at full speed, then up to 1 Mbps. Roamify's Japan unlimited plans run at full 5G speed for the whole plan, with no slowdown, on the KDDI network (speed policy confirmed by Roamify, October 5, 2026). That applies to Japan unlimited only, and coverage still depends on KDDI's signal where you are.
Roamify also offers 5% off with code ROAM5 at checkout.
Prices change often, so the most reliable approach is still to search your specific destination on each platform and compare the per-GB cost for your intended data amount and trip length.
App and Purchase Experience #
Both have mobile apps, and app experience is where we've put a lot of our effort. The Roamify app for iOS and Android is highly rated and built around a clean, guided install. As of October 4, 2026, it showed 4.7 stars from 93 ratings on the App Store and 4.3 stars from 869 reviews on Google Play. Our latest update describes a fresh design that is "cleaner, faster, easier to use", with a "New eSIM install wizard" that walks you through setup step by step. One Google Play reviewer called it "super clean and very easy to navigate". You can also buy through getroamify.com in a browser.
To be fair to Saily, its app is well rated on larger samples: 4.7 from 13K ratings on the App Store and 4.6 from 97.9K reviews on Google Play, as checked 2026-10-04. Roamify's App Store score matches Saily's, from far fewer ratings (93), and its Google Play score is lower.
Here's the flow as published on our site:
- Choose your destination. Search for where you're going and pick a plan that fits your trip length and data needs.
- Purchase and install. Buy in the app and follow the on-screen guide to install your eSIM. Our app page says this takes less than 2 minutes. You can also install by scanning a QR code, or manually if needed (install help).
- Arrive and connect. When you land, enable the eSIM in your device settings.
- Top up when you need more. Select the eSIM in the eSIMs tab of your dashboard, in the app or on the website, and choose how many GB to add. Not every eSIM supports top-ups (top-up help).
All as checked 2026-10-04.
Saily is app-centric. Setup instructions and live chat run through the Saily app, and Saily's help center says live chat is available only in the app (Saily Help Center, as checked 2026-10-04). Saily also bundles security features, such as an ad blocker and virtual locations, into its app.
Coverage #
Both providers say they cover 200+ destinations. Roamify's network runs through 358+ operators. For mainstream destinations like Japan, the US, the UK, or Western Europe, both providers have solid options. For less common destinations, check your exact country on both sites, because plan depth varies by destination with every provider.
Plan Types #
Roamify offers single-country plans, regional bundles (such as Europe, 46 countries, and North America, covering the US, Canada and Mexico), and Asia and Global plans. That matters if you're doing a multi-stop trip: a regional bundle is often more cost-effective than buying separate plans for each country.
Saily also offers country, regional and global plans, plus Saily Ultra, a monthly subscription covering 121 destinations (from US$39.99/month for 10 GB of high-speed data) (Saily Ultra pricing, as checked 2026-10-04).
Calls and SMS #
This is one of the clearest differences. Roamify offers call and SMS plans in almost all countries, including its Europe plans and its United States, Canada and Mexico plans, so you can call and text without relying only on Wi-Fi apps. Roamify's Japan plans don't include calls or SMS.
Saily's data plans are data only, but you can add a Saily US phone number (US$1.99/month) and pair it with a call and text plan. If you only need WhatsApp, FaceTime or similar apps, a data plan from either provider works.
Top-ups #
Both let you add data without starting over. Roamify customers can top up an active eSIM. Saily lets you add data in the app, and the new plan activates when your current one runs out, with an auto top-up option (Saily Europe page, as checked 2026-10-04).
Refunds #
The two refund policies work differently, so read them before you buy.
Roamify. Quoted from our refund policy, as checked 2026-10-04:
- "If your eSIM does not work due to a problem with Roamify or the connection provider, we can provide a full or partial refund."
- "If the eSIM is never connected to the internet, we can offer a full refund minus a small admin fee. If the eSIM stopped working or only temporarily worked, we can provide a partial refund for the number of days you were without an internet connection, discounting the days in which you had a connection."
- "In both cases, Roamify reserves the right to deduct a small administration cost from refunded amounts."
- "We cannot issue a refund if you have changed your mind or no longer need the eSIM."
In short: no refund for a change of mind. A refund applies only if the eSIM fails because of Roamify or the connection provider, or a full refund minus a small admin fee if the eSIM was never connected.
Saily. Saily offers a full refund within 30 days of purchase if the eSIM hasn't been installed, or the data plan hasn't been activated. Once a plan is activated, a full refund isn't guaranteed, but Saily may consider a full or partial refund for quality issues on its side, or if more than 99% of the data is unused (Saily refund policy, as checked 2026-10-04).
If your trip might be cancelled, Saily's policy is more flexible for unused plans.
Reseller and Affiliate Program #
Roamify runs a partnership program at partner.getroamify.com for resellers and affiliates. Saily also lists an Affiliate Program and a Creators Program on saily.com. If you're a content creator or travel site, compare the terms of both.

Where Roamify Has the Edge #
Calls and SMS built in. Roamify offers call and SMS plans in almost all countries (Japan is an exception), so you don't need a separate number subscription.
Price on Europe and unlimited plans. In our October 2026 examples, Roamify's listed prices were lower than Saily's on every Europe regional size we compared and on unlimited plans in Japan and Europe. In Japan, our unlimited plans also stay at full 5G speed on the KDDI network for the whole plan, with no slowdown (speed policy confirmed by Roamify, October 5, 2026).
Global plans. Multi-stop trips are simpler when you can buy one plan that covers the whole journey.
A clean, guided app, plus web. Our latest app update describes a fresh design that is "cleaner, faster, easier to use", with a step-by-step install wizard. It is rated 4.7 on the App Store (93 ratings), and you can still buy in a browser if you prefer (download the app).
Where Saily Has the Edge #
Refunds for unused plans. Saily gives a full refund within 30 days if you haven't installed the eSIM or activated the plan. Roamify doesn't refund a change of mind.
Built-in security features. If you want an ad blocker, web protection and virtual locations in your eSIM app, Saily bundles them.
Subscription option. Frequent travelers who like a single monthly plan with travel perks may prefer Saily Ultra.
Small Japan plans. Saily sells 1, 3 and 5 GB Japan plans. Roamify's Japan catalog starts at 10 GB (4 days) or unlimited by the day, so light users in Japan may prefer Saily.
Brand familiarity. Saily has built recognition among travelers through tech media and app stores. If you've already used it and had a good experience, that counts for something.
Who Should Choose Roamify? #
Roamify is the stronger pick if you:
- Want calls and SMS included with your travel plan in most countries
- Are price-sensitive and want to compare a low starting price and per-GB cost
- Are doing a multi-stop trip and want a regional or global plan
- Want a clean, simple app to buy, install and top up, or prefer to buy on the web
- Are a content creator or travel site interested in a reseller or affiliate partnership
Who Should Choose Saily? #
Saily is worth considering if you:
- Want a full refund option if your trip is cancelled before you install the eSIM
- Like built-in security features in your eSIM app
- Want a monthly subscription with travel perks (Saily Ultra)
- Have already used Saily and are comfortable with the platform
How Both Compare to the Wider Market #
Roamify and Saily aren't the only options. Airalo, Holafly, Nomad and Yesim all sell travel eSIMs with different trade-offs. Holafly, for example, sells unlimited data by the day and has a longer refund window. Nomad and Yesim list competitive per-GB prices on larger plans. For a full, dated comparison of prices per GB, refund rules, regional plans and top-ups, see our Best Saily alternatives guide.
The eSIM market in 2026 is competitive, and prices vary significantly by destination. The most reliable approach is to check your specific destination on each platform and compare the per-GB rate for your trip length. The starting price is a useful signal, but it's not the whole picture.
How to Get Started with Roamify #
Head to getroamify.com or open the Roamify app, search for your destination, and browse available plans by data amount and duration. Once you purchase, the eSIM is delivered digitally. Install it on your device before you travel, and it activates when you arrive in the destination country.
Use code ROAM5 at checkout for 5% off.
Make sure your device supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked before purchasing. Remember that Roamify can't refund an eSIM bought for an incompatible or locked device. Check our eSIM compatible devices list if you're unsure.
Frequently Asked Questions #
Is Roamify cheaper than Saily?
Often, but it depends on the destination. Roamify plans start from $2 and average $1.75 per GB across the catalog. In our October 4, 2026 examples, Roamify was cheaper than Saily on every Europe regional size we compared and on unlimited plans in Japan and Europe. In Japan, Roamify doesn't sell 1, 3 or 5 GB plans, so Saily is the option for a small Japan plan. Always compare the same plan size for your destination.
Do Roamify and Saily offer calls and SMS?
Roamify offers call and SMS plans in almost all countries, including its Europe plans and its United States, Canada and Mexico plans (but not its Japan plans). Saily's data plans are data only, but Saily sells an add-on US phone number (US$1.99/month) with call and text plans.
Does Roamify cover more countries than Saily?
Both say they cover 200+ destinations. Roamify works with 358+ network operators. Check your exact destination on both sites, because plan options vary by country.
Does Roamify have an app?
Yes. Roamify has iOS and Android apps, available from our download page. As of October 4, 2026, the app was rated 4.7 on the App Store (93 ratings) and 4.3 on Google Play (869 reviews). You choose a destination, install with the step-by-step guide, and top up from the eSIMs tab. You can also buy through getroamify.com in a browser.
Can I top up a Roamify eSIM?
Yes. You can top up an active Roamify eSIM instead of buying a new one.
What is Roamify's refund policy?
No refund for a change of mind. A refund applies only if the eSIM fails because of Roamify or the connection provider, or a full refund minus a small admin fee if the eSIM was never connected. Read the full terms in our refund policy.
Does Roamify offer multi-country plans?
Yes. Roamify offers single-country plans, regional bundles, and global multi-country plans, making it a practical option for travelers covering multiple destinations on one trip.
Do Roamify's Japan unlimited plans slow down?
No. Roamify's Japan unlimited plans run at full 5G speed for the whole plan, with no slowdown, on the KDDI network (speed policy confirmed by Roamify, October 5, 2026). Saily's unlimited plans give 5 GB a day at full speed, then up to 1 Mbps. This speed policy is specific to Roamify's Japan unlimited plans. Coverage still depends on KDDI's signal where you are, so check the network map for rural or mountain areas.
What is the ROAM5 discount code?
ROAM5 gives you 5% off Roamify plans at checkout.
Is Roamify or Saily better for a long multi-destination trip?
Both offer regional and global plans. Roamify adds call and SMS plans in almost all countries, and in our Europe example its regional plans were listed at lower prices. Saily may suit you better if you want its Ultra subscription perks or its refund terms for unused plans.
The Bottom Line #
Both Roamify and Saily are solid alternatives to expensive carrier roaming. The decision comes down to a few practical factors: what you'll pay for your specific destination, whether you need calls and SMS, how much refund flexibility you want, and which extras matter to you.
For travelers who want calls and texts included, regional or global plans and low per-GB prices, Roamify is a strong choice. If refund flexibility for unused plans or built-in security tools matter more to you, Saily may be the better fit. Browse plans and check your destination at getroamify.com, or compare more options in our Best Saily alternatives guide.
