Using and Installing an eSIM
You have activated data on your phone, enabled roaming, and have network coverage — but you’re still not connected to the internet. Chances are your APN (Access Point Name) is misconfigured.
An APN is the gateway between your mobile network and the internet. It tells your phone which network settings to use for data. When you switch to a Roamify eSIM, your APN should update automatically — but sometimes this doesn’t happen correctly, especially on Android devices or after a manual eSIM installation. When the APN is wrong, your phone shows a signal but cannot load any data.
Before entering your APN manually, check the Technical Specs section for your destination on the Roamify website. The correct APN value varies by country and plan. For example, the APN for Europe is orange.
For most Roamify plans, the APN settings follow this structure:
Field
Value
APN Name
As listed in Technical Specs for your destination
APN Type
default,supl
MCC / MNC
Auto
Username
(leave blank)
Password
(leave blank)
Note: If you purchased one of the following plans, please follow its dedicated guide instead:
Otherwise, continue with the steps below.
If you’ve entered the APN correctly but still can’t connect, try these steps:
For device-specific troubleshooting, see:
Do I need to configure the APN for my Roamify eSIM?
In most cases, no — the APN is set automatically when you install your Roamify eSIM. However, some devices (particularly Android phones) may require you to enter it manually. If you have a signal but no data, configuring the APN manually is the first thing to try.
Why is my Roamify eSIM not connecting to data?
The most common causes are: data roaming is turned off, the wrong APN is set, or the eSIM is not selected as the active data line. Check all three before contacting support. You can also refer to our device-specific troubleshooting guides linked above.
How do I reset APN settings on iPhone?
On iPhone, you cannot delete individual APN entries — the field is editable but not deletable. To reset, go to Settings > Mobile Data > [Roamify plan] > Mobile Data Network and clear the APN field, then re-enter the correct value. If the field is greyed out, try resetting network settings via Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings (note: this will also remove saved Wi-Fi passwords).
How do I reset APN settings on Android?
Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names. Tap the three-dot menu and select Reset to default, or manually delete the incorrect APN entry and create a new one with the correct values.
Where do I find the correct APN for my destination?
The APN value for each country is listed in the Technical Specs section on the Roamify website when you view your destination’s plan. It is also included in your order confirmation email.
If you’ve followed these steps and still can’t connect, our support team is available via live chat on the Roamify website. You can also explore related guides:
